How do I connect Asana?

Goal

Read your Asana tasks in Nova. Nova writes comments and changes only after the card.

Before you start

• Expert view. The switch is in How do I switch between Simple and Expert?
• A Personal Access Token from Asana, under Settings → Apps.

Steps

1. Settings, Apps & services. Type Asana in Search for a service… and tap the Asana row. The card is called Asana.
2. Enter the token in the Asana token (optional) field, not in the chat. Nova stores it encrypted.
3. Remind about due Asana tasks (briefing / suggestion) is on by default. Below it you set how early Nova reminds you. Only workspace (empty = all) and Only project (empty = all) narrow it down.
4. No reminder if already on the Morgen calendar skips tasks that are already there as an event. Remind only during work hours keeps reminders within work hours.
5. Background sync (hours, 0 = off) is 0 by default. Above it you see Last sync or No sync yet.
6. Do not send Asana content to cloud AI keeps Asana away from cloud providers.
7. Ask the avatar about tasks. A comment comes as the card Comment in Asana, a change to name, description, due date, or done as the card Change in Asana. Save in Asana writes, Dismiss writes nothing.
8. A copy comes as the card Copy Asana to Morgen task when Morgen is connected, otherwise as Copy Asana to reminder. Confirm creates the copy.

Example

“Which Asana tasks are due this week?” Then: “Mark the first one done.” Look at the card Change in Asana and Dismiss if you were only trying it out.

Common problems

• Nova reads only tasks assigned to you.
• Nova does not create new tasks in Asana.
• The copy in Morgen or in Reminders stays a copy. What you change in Asana later does not reach it.
• With Do not send Asana content to cloud AI, Nova answers about Asana only when Ollama is the provider. Otherwise an error comes back.
• The section Asana activity feed (webhooks + Tailscale Funnel) needs Tailscale installed and connected. Without it Nova still reads the tasks.
