How do I see what Nova blocked or kept on this Mac?

Goal

See in the Security log when Nova blocked something, kept it on this Mac, or let it go to the cloud once.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Settings, Privacy & security, the Security log tab.
  2. Card Last 20 entries. It opens and closes and shows the number of entries. Each row has the date, the time, and what happened.
  3. Privacy Lock enabled and Privacy Lock lifted name where you switched, for example via Menu bar, Settings, or Voice. Call blocked names what the lock stopped, for example Web search.
  4. Stayed on this Mac and Kept off the cloud appear when a class under Classes & sources is set to Local model and Nova therefore did not send the request to the cloud. Once to the cloud means one exception went out once.
  5. Refresh reloads the list. With no event it says No entries yet.
  6. Which servers Nova talked to is on the Network traffic tab. See How do I see which servers Nova talks to?
Security log tab, Last 20 entries card: date, time, and what happened.

Example

Turn on Privacy Lock, ask for a web search, then press Refresh. At the top are Privacy Lock enabled and Call blocked · Web search.

Common problems

  • The log stores no content. It names only the kind, the category, and the time.
  • An ordinary request to a cloud provider is not in the Security log. It shows on the Network traffic tab as a server.
  • The card shows only the last 20 entries. The same block within 10 seconds is listed once.
  • The log stays on this Mac. The sync folder does not carry it.
  • Simple does not show the tab.
