How do I connect Notion?

Goal

Read Notion tasks and pages in Nova, and create new tasks only after the card.

Before you start

• Expert view. The switch is in How do I switch between Simple and Expert?
• An integration in Notion with its integration token from notion.so/my-integrations.
• The databases are shared with this integration in Notion under Connections.

Steps

1. Settings, Apps & services. Type Notion in Search for a service… and tap the Notion row.
2. Connection tab, card Notion connection. Enter the token in the Integration Token field. Nova stores it encrypted.
3. Tick Notion on. Without this box Nova does not query Notion, even with a token.
4. Press Check connection. Below it, Connected as names the integration and the number of visible data sources.
5. Press Load data sources. Nova lists the visible databases with name and ID. Copy the ID of the task database, not the browser link.
6. On the Databases tab, section Task database, enter the ID in Data source ID. If the columns in Notion are not called Name, Status, and Due, adjust the names below.
7. Third tab, card Day plan & privacy: Include Notion tasks in the day plan adds open tasks to the day plan. Do not send Notion content to cloud AI keeps Notion away from cloud providers.
8. Ask the avatar what is open in Notion. A new task comes as the card Create Notion task. Save in Notion writes, Dismiss writes nothing.

Example

“Which tasks are open in Notion?” Then: “Add a Notion task called Check offer.” Look at the card and Dismiss if you were only trying it out.

Common problems

• Load data sources reports 0 databases: share the database with the integration in Notion under Connections.
• Connected in the list only means a token is set. Without Notion on, Notion stays off for Nova. The card then says: “Token set — don’t forget to turn it on.”
• With Do not send Notion content to cloud AI, Nova answers about Notion only when Ollama is the provider. Otherwise an error comes back.
• Changing, appending, and commenting also go through a card with Save in Notion. Without that button Nova changes nothing in Notion.
