How does Nova keep a record of my day?
Goal
Have Nova save a daily summary as a Markdown file and ask about it later.
Before you start
- A folder for text files or a folder of its own for daily summaries. Without either, Nova stores nothing.
Steps
- Settings, Files & knowledge, tab Notes, card Daily summaries. The card is also in Simple. Without a folder of its own, Nova stores the summaries with the text files. Choose folder… sets one of its own, Same as text files removes it again.
- Say at the avatar: “Recap of my day” or “What happened today?”. Nova gathers what it knows about the day: events, meetings, conversations with Nova, and work time.
- The card Save the day summary appears with the date, the folder, and the first points. Only your yes writes the file. Without a yes, the folder stays as it was.
- The file is named after the date, for example 2026-10-24-tageszusammenfassung.md. It has four sections: what happened, decisions, open items, and time.
- Say “End of the day”, and Nova asks at the end whether to save the day summary. The same card then appears.
- Ask later: “What happened yesterday?” or “What happened today?”. Nova also reads the saved summaries for this.
- Old files: Settings, Memory & history, tab Daily summaries. The page is in Expert view. Under How long to keep day summaries are Unlimited, 30 days, 90 days, 180 days, and 1 year. Delete expired… lists the files and asks twice before Nova deletes them.
Example
“Recap of my day.” Then yes on the card. The folder now holds the file with today’s date.
Common problems
- Nova says no folder is set. Both the text-file folder and a folder of its own are missing.
- If you save the same day again, the new file replaces the old one.
- The headings in the file and the file name are German today, even when Nova speaks another language.
- Nova never deletes old summaries on its own. Delete expired… removes them permanently, not to the trash.
