How do I ask the health coach?

Goal

Ask about sleep, recovery, weight and training and get an answer that compares your values with your own average.

Before you start

• Expert view for the Health page. The switch is in How do I switch between Simple and Expert?
• Measurements in Nova, for example from a scale, watch or ring. See How do scale, sleep, or runs get into Nova?
• An AI model. See How do I set up AI access?

Steps

1. Settings, Health, the Health tab. Turn on the switch Use Health in Nova.
2. Further down, in the Health coach section, is the switch Turn on the health coach. It is on by default.
3. In the card Coach profile, fill in Goal, Target weight (kg), Training times, Sports and Limitations or injuries, then Save. The coach profile stays on this Mac.
4. Ask at the avatar, spoken or typed. Nova first syncs your sources and compares the values of the last weeks with your average.
5. If Nova is missing something about you, such as height or year of birth, the card Your coach profile appears. Only your yes saves the details.
6. If the question goes to a cloud model, the card Send health data to a cloud model? comes first. Allow applies to this provider. Only on this Mac answers the question with a local model if one is ready.
7. You change your choice in Settings under Consent for health questions with Allow, Local only or Reset, per provider.
8. Report anomalies: Nova checks your measurements on this Mac without a model and speaks up at most once a day, for example when you sleep clearly less than usual. The switch is off by default. Nova offers it once, after you confirm your coach profile.

Common problems

• The coach gives no medical advice. The cards say so with Not medical advice.
• To compare with your average, Nova needs several weeks of measurements. Without a source there is neither a comparison nor anomalies.
• Without consent and without a local model, a health question stays unanswered. With a mixed question, such as an appointment for training, Nova leaves the health data out.
• The coach does not evaluate nutrition yet. There is no connection for it.
• If you wave off an anomaly, Nova stays quiet for 7 days.
