How do scale, sleep, or runs get into Nova?
Goal
Connect Withings, Ultrahuman, or Strava in Nova and ask the avatar about the numbers.
Before you start
- Expert view. The switch is in How do I switch between Simple and Expert?
- An account with the service. Withings and Strava need your own developer app, Ultrahuman a key. The steps are in the Nova Health guides.
Steps
- Settings, Apps & services. Under Connected apps you find Withings, Ultrahuman, and Strava. Tap the row.
- The card is the same as in Nova Health. Enter the credentials and connect, as in How do I connect Withings?, How do I connect Ultrahuman?, or How do I connect Strava?
- Settings, Health, tab Health, card Active: tick Use Health in Nova. Without this box Nova fetches no numbers.
- Measurements and credentials sit in a shared folder on this Mac that Nova Health uses too. What is already connected there also counts in Nova.
- Ask the avatar about sleep, weight, or your last run. Nova fetches new numbers when the last ones are older.
- Tab In the briefing, card Lines: turn Sleep, Steps, Weight, Recovery, and Training status on or off for the morning briefing.
- Tab Privacy: Do not send Health numbers to cloud models. Nova then answers health questions only with a local model.
Example
“How did I sleep this week?” — “What does the scale say today?”
Common problems
- Nova says Health is switched off: Use Health in Nova is not ticked.
- With a cloud provider, Nova asks before the first health question with the card Send health data to a cloud model? Allow applies to that provider only. Only on this Mac answers locally, and without a local model not at all. Another provider asks again.
- With Privacy Lock on, Nova fetches no new numbers. See How do I turn on Privacy Lock?
- Oura, Polar, WHOOP, and intervals.icu are in the same list. In Nova Health they are a preview, see More sources (preview).
- Apple Health and workout files have their own tabs on the Health page. The steps are in How do I read an Apple Health export? and How do I read workout files?
